App Keywords is a tool for finding keywords:

  • Indexing of your app

  • Competitors' keywords

  • App Store/Google Play suggestions for keywords added to Keyword Monitor

How can App Keywords be useful for you?
With the App Keywords tool, you can find many relevant search queries for any app and quickly create a semantic core.

Detailed Overview of Features and Data in App Keywords
The App Keywords tool is located in the ASO section under "Keyword Research." You will see data for the app selected at the top (to add a new app, click the "+App" button).

Select the country and platform (for iOS apps).

In App Keywords, you have access to 3 tables:

  1. Indexation - Keywords that your app can be found for in the app store search in the selected country. In the upper right corner, you can see the number of indexed keywords for your app. The more indexed keywords, the better your app's visibility in search.

  2. Competitors - Keywords that competitors can be found for in search (positions 1-50).

  3. Suggestions - App Store/Google Play suggestions (depending on the platform of the selected app) for keywords added to Keyword Monitor. The more relevant keywords you add to Keyword Monitor, the more accurate suggestions you will see in this tab.

In each table, you will see the following data for the keywords:

  • Traffic — This is the estimated number of users who search for this query daily in the selected country. This search volume is divided between organic results and ad displays. In ASO, the higher your app ranks in search results, the more potential traffic it can attract.

  • Complexity (CI) — A metric that shows the competition level for the search query. It helps you assess how many resources you need to improve your app's visibility for that keyword. The difficulty scale ranges from 0 (low competition) to 10 (high competition).

  • Effectiveness (KEI) — This indicator helps you choose keywords that bring maximum traffic with minimum competition.

    • Very High: The highest effectiveness for your app.

    • High

    • Medium

    • Neutral

    • Low: Minimal effectiveness, high promotion cost, few installs.

  • Search Ads (only for App Store) — The popularity of the search query in Apple Search Ads. Values range from 5 (unpopular query) to 100 (very popular query).

  • Rank — This shows your app's ranking for the keyword in search results for the selected country.

    • Green background: The app is in the top positions (1, 2, 3) for this keyword.

    • Red background: The system has not updated data for your app in more than 60 hours. Add keywords to Keyword Monitor for more up-to-date data.

  • Changes — How much your app's ranking for the keyword has changed compared to the previous day.

  • Updated — The last time the data for the keyword was updated.

Competitors in the top 50 (available in the "Competitors" tab). Here you can see how many of your added competitors rank between positions 1-50 for this keyword. This helps you determine the relevance of the keyword. The more competitors indexed, the more likely the keyword is relevant. Use sorting to see the most relevant keywords first.

The "Brand" icon next to a keyword indicates that it may be a brand-related keyword (meaning it might be difficult for other apps to get traffic for that keyword). Hover over it to see which app the keyword might be brand-related to.

To add a keyword to Keyword Monitor, click the "+" button. If the word is already added, you will see a checkmark instead of "+".

You can select multiple keywords at once. To do this, highlight them and click the "+" button to add the selected keywords to Keyword Monitor. You can also assign them a color in Keyword Monitor (for grouping).

Filters

You can filter keywords by a selected metric using the "Filter" button. Filters are applied in real-time: just choose the value you need to view the data.

You can also search for keywords by phrases or letters (searching within the "Keywords" column).

To add filtered keywords to Keyword Monitor, highlight them and click the blue plus.

Additional Tools:

Top Apps. Click the icon to the left of the keyword to see which apps rank at the top of the search results. You can switch the "in search" toggle to see how the search results look in the store.

Pro Tip. This is a very effective way to find competitors. Click "+" to add apps as competitors. This will help you quickly and easily find keywords. Important! Choose a relevant and popular keyword and add competitors from the search results. Apps that rank at the top are indexed for many keywords that you can add to your semantic core.

Use sorting to quickly get the data you need.

Keyword Data Freshness. In App Keywords, data is updated every 48 hours. You can always get more up-to-date data for a search query by adding it to the Keyword Monitor section by clicking "+". Here, keywords are updated every 6-12 hours. There's also an option for manual data updates using the circular arrow button.

Click the "magnifying glass" to check the search query in the Keyword Check tool (analyzing any search query: search results, traffic indexes, competing apps). Instructions for Keyword Check.

Click the "lightbulb" next to the keyword to see App Store/Google Play suggestions. These suggestions appear when a user types that keyword in the app store search bar. You can add these suggestions to Keyword Monitor by clicking "+".

Click the "Hide" button to exclude keywords that have already been added to Keyword Monitor from being displayed. This is useful for building your semantic core and checking new keywords you haven't worked with before.

  • Translator. Toggle the "Translate" switch to translate keywords into the language of your ASOMobile interface.

  • Download xls file - This allows you to export data as an Excel file.

  • Copy to clipboard - This allows you to copy all search queries to the clipboard.

To find even more keywords, use the Keyword Finder tool.
