How can Spy Competitors help you?

Spy Competitors is a very handy tool for comparing your app's keyword positions with those of your competitors.

This is an analogue of the Keyword Monitor tool for monitoring keywords, adapted for convenient work simultaneously with several apps (yours and competitors apps).

Thanks to data on the potential volume of traffic, complexity, and efficiency for each request, as well as convenient tools (the possibility of grouping, uploading data from the system, and instant updating of information), you will be able to track the keywords for which you have lost positions in comparison with competitors.

Detailed overview of functions and data in Spy Competitors

In the menu, select the Competitors section, the ASO subsection, and select the Spy Competitors tool. Select the country and iPhone/iPad platform (for iOS applications) and date to display position history on the chart.

You also need to add competitors.

Adding competitors

To add competitors, click on the "+Competitors" button. You can find competitors by name, link, or add suggested competitors.

Then select competitors to display on the graph and on the chart (you can display data for all competitors or just some).

 Add popular competitors to get the maximum amount of data.

Adding keywords

Please note that in this tool you will see the search terms that you added earlier to Keyword Monitor. The lists of keywords in these tools are synchronized. You can also add new keywords.

  1. If you haven't added keywords before, click the "Add keywords" button to add keywords manually. You can also click the "Add auto-suggestions" button if you want to add the keywords ASOMobile found for you.

  2. If you have added keywords, you can add new keywords via the "+" button in the top right corner. You can also add ASOMobile auto-suggestions by clicking on the lightning button.

*Please note that the lists are synchronized, so if you have added a keyword in Spy Competitors, it will also be added to Keyword Monitor. The same goes for deleting keywords.

List of keywords

In the chart you will see a list of keywords with the following values:

*Traffic: the number of users who enter this search query into the search bar of a market (per day). This is your potential traffic, provided that the application is in the top positions for this search query.

*Search Ads (App Store only). The popularity of a search query in Apple Search Ads. Values ​​range from 5 (unpopular) to 100 (very popular).

*Applications: the number of applications that are displayed in the keyword search.

*Rank: the position of your application and selected competitors. Applications are displayed from left to right depending on the position in the search results (on the left are the positions that rank higher).

The up or down arrow next to the position is the dynamics of change over the past day. When hovering over a position, you will see the data update time (position relevance).

*Side toolbar:

  • Search grouping tool

  • Light Bulb means App store keyword suggestions. Click the plus next to a suggestion to add the keyword to the list.

  • Round arrow: the ability to instantly get up-to-date data on the position of the application for this search query.

  • Trash: remove a keyword from the list (when deleting a keyword, it will also be deleted from the Keyword Monitor).

Graph

To display a keyword on a graph, click the checkmark to the left of the query. On the graph you will see the position of your application and competitors applications. Hover over the graph to see more details.

To view the history of positions for the desired period, select the required dates in the calendar.

Top apps by keyword in search results

To the left of the graph, you will see the top apps by keyword in the search results for the selected country.

To add applications to competitors, click on the "+" to the left of the name.

Additional tools for your convenience:

  • Search grouping tool

Create semantic groups from search queries, highlighting them with a certain color.

After that, by selecting the desired color (colors) in the toolbar, your requests will be sorted. To see the entire list, select gray color.

  • Translator. Click the "Translate" switcher to translate the keywords in the list.

  • Filter. By clicking on the filter button, you can filter search queries by the word you are interested in, traffic, Search Ads or the number of applications.

  • Sorting. To sort by the required metric, click on the arrows to the left of the column name.

  • Round arrow is the ability to instantly get up-to-date data on the position of the application for added search queries.

  • Download Xls file is the ability to get data in the form of an Excel spreadsheet.

  • Copy to clipboard is the ability to copy all search queries to the clipboard.
